Adopted!

Leader (aka Gametime Leader)

We are proud to announce that Leader found her forever home!  Congratulations Leader!!!

ADOPTED!

Sonny has been a dog to touch all of our hearts.  He is 85 lbs of love and affection, but has been through a rough time since coming off the track.  He incurred an injury shortly after retirement, requiring 3 weeks of hospitalization, months of dressing changes, antibiotics, and plain old TLC.  His leg finally healed, he began to have cluster seizures.  After numerous medications and dosages, trying to find that perfect combination to quiet the electrical storms in his brain, he was treated by a holistic vet with a treatment of gold beads.

Sonny is now at the Rainbow Bridge, we miss you Sunshine Boy!

LuLu (aka Solitary Lou) was found on the side of a southern Alabama road near Tuskagee Veterinary School last December.  This little girl had her muzzle on and was severely emaciated.  She also had barb wire wrapped around a leg which had caused a bad infection.  We have been told that she was running loose for three to four months. LuLu traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio on March 16thCincinnati.  At the time, we thought she had muscle atrophy due to emaciation, but her sharp-eyed foster mom suspected a more serious problem.  X-rays showed an old hip fracture.  Her foster mom is giving her supplements and lots of good food and LuLu is doing exceptionally well.  She continues to build muscle and gain strength and is now running laps in the yard and using the deck steps.  The vet staff was very impressed with LuLu and everyone who has met her thinks the world of this adorable little girl.  She is an affectionate sweet-natured girl who loves children.  When she sees any kids, her tail whirls around and around. She has a very strong will which is quite evident.  LuLu greets the world every morning with greyt enthusiasm.

ADOPTED!

Aaron came to NCGC with one of the worst broken legs our ortho vet, Dr Roger Grothaus, had ever seen. It had already started to heal after being casted on the track, which made the process even harder for this poor guy.  After 2 surgeries and lots of TLC, he's doing great!  He's attending hydrotherapy with his new family and loving his retired life.

ADOPTED!

Dare was our very first special needs dog.  He came to NCGC in April of 2006.  He moved to Ohio with a rare break, his front right leg.  After being treated at OSU Vet Hospital, he was fostered by Rob and Julia Benfield, and never left.  He now has 3 acres of fenced in yard to run wild on, and run he does!   He’s very happily retired!
