N.C.G.C. occasionally experiences glitches with our online applications.  You can expect to hear from a representative within 24-48 hours and if you have not heard from N.C.G.C., we may not have received it.

Please call toll free at 1-877-NCGC-DOG, or email JoAnn Fuchs, Adoption Coordinator, at jlfuchs2@aol.com if you do not receive an initial response within 24 hours.  Thank you.

What to expect during the adoption process

You may submit an adoption application by clicking the link in the menu to your left.

Submitting your adoption application to North Coast Greyhound Connection, Inc. is the first step in adopting a retired racing greyhound.

Please note that it is the policy (March, 2009) of N.C.G.C. that a fence is now required with a minimum height of 42".  Exceptions must be approved by the N.C.G.C. Board.  Electric fences are not acceptable under any circumstances.

When NCGC receives your application, we will contact your references.

After your references have been contacted, we will arrange a home visit with you.  If you are interested in a specific greyhound, we will try to bring that greyhound to your home for the visit.  We cannot guarantee, however, that this will be possible.  We may bring more than one greyhound to your home in order to find the best fit possible for both you and the greyhound.  The purpose of the home visit is to observe the interaction between the greyhound, your family, and your home, and to check for safety issues.  It is also a great opportunity for you to ask us questions.

Once the home visit is complete, NCGC will make a decision about your adoption request.  At that time, pending a final adoption decision, you may place a non-refundable deposit on a specific dog.

The adoption process is usually completed within 3 weeks but that may vary, depending on various factors. You may contact the Adoption Coordinator at any time during the process to check on the status of your adoption file.

North Coast Greyhound Connection is a non-profit 501 (C)(3) organization. Our dogs are retired racing greyhounds that come from all over the country.  When they are brought into the program, they are spayed or neutered, their teeth are cleaned, and all shots are updated. Our adoption fee is $225 (for greyhounds under 7) and $125 for greyhounds over 7 years of age and special needs dogs.
